Inessa is a London-based botanical artist known for her delicate hand-painted works that capture the quiet beauty, emotion and individuality of plants.
Through her brand, Art Inessa, she creates original paintings, limited edition prints and bespoke commissions for collectors, interior designers and nature lovers who appreciate refined and meaningful art. Her work combines detailed botanical observation with an emotional and often anthropomorphic approach, revealing the subtle stories and personalities found in nature.
Alongside her studio practice, Inessa also develops online painting programs designed to help people slow down, reconnect with nature and experience the calm, focus and quiet joy that painting can bring into everyday life.
My journey into botanical art began with a simple desire to slow down and truly observe nature. After many years working in international business, I decided to follow a different path and began painting. Through this process I discovered that plants hold not only beauty but also emotion, character and a quiet sense of presence.
Today, my work combines careful botanical observation with an artistic and emotional approach. I create detailed hand-painted portraits of plants, studying each subject closely to capture its shape, movement, texture and individuality — from elegant flowers to playful vegetables with unexpected expressions and humour. This anthropomorphic quality — finding personality and mood in the botanical — runs through much of what I paint, though most of my work remains rooted in precise, observational study.
Working primarily in watercolour, I build my paintings through delicate transparent layers, bringing vibrancy and life to every subject I paint. My works often carry a quiet emotion or mood, reflecting the subtle stories found in nature.
Art also became an important part of my own healing and reflection during difficult periods in life. Through my work, I hope to create paintings that bring calm, joy and a deeper connection to nature into people's homes and everyday lives.
I am a London-based botanical artist, a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society. My work has been exhibited widely across the UK and internationally — including at The Mall Galleries, Green@Stone, Chelsea Old Town Hall — and my paintings are held in private collections across three continents: Europe, the USA and Australia.
